 Your home's entranceway serves a number of important purposes by providing everything from front-door security to welcoming hospitality. It even has the function of helping you, your family and your guests get organized during arrival and departure. So it's worth asking how your front entrance might better accommodate both your practical and aesthetic needs.
For example, if your foyer floor is difficult to keep clean or is easily stained, consider replacing it with wall-to-wall ceramic or glazed clay tile. If your entrance area is small, you can add an illusion of space by installing mirrors on two sides, either on full-length closet doors or at eye level. Accent the mirrors wth strategically placed lighting. Limited closet storage can be expanded with custom shelving or possibly by removing closet doors to accommodate a bench and a coat tree. For more efficiency, and a statement of grandeur, add a tall antique foyer chair, complete with hooks, an umbrella rack and a built-inn hall mirror.
Sometimes it only takes a little imagination to give you and your guests a more welcoming impression.
